Freight from the Netherlands to the Czech Republic
We collect from the ports of Rotterdam and Amsterdam, from European distribution centres in Brabant and Limburg, and Dutch products – flowers, greenhouse vegetables, food and technology – for delivery to the Czech Republic. A full truck from Rotterdam to Prague (about 950 km) takes roughly 1–2 days. For overseas containers we first check whether the goods have been cleared; the calculator gives a freight price.
Dutch cities and hubs that ship to the Czech Republic
For the Czech Republic, the Netherlands is above all a hub. Rotterdam is Europe’s largest port, and many overseas companies run their European warehouses in the belt between Rotterdam, Tilburg and Venlo; home-grown output centres on vegetables, flowers, food and high-tech equipment.
| City | Industry | What we typically carry from there |
|---|---|---|
| Rotterdam and Moerdijk | container terminals, refineries, chemicals | overseas cargo from containers and port warehouses, plastics and chemical raw materials |
| Amsterdam | port, Schiphol airport, cocoa processing | air cargo, cocoa and food ingredients, flowers from the auction at nearby Aalsmeer |
| Westland | glasshouse horticulture | tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, pot plants and cut flowers |
| Tilburg | European distribution centres | clothing, consumer electronics and online-retail stock |
| Venlo and Venray | logistics, horticulture | spare parts, stock from central warehouses, vegetables from northern Limburg |
| Eindhoven | semiconductor, medical and measuring technology | delicate instruments and machinery in crates |
| Leeuwarden | dairy, Frisian agriculture | cheese and dairy products, seed potatoes |
A container in Rotterdam: clear it or move it in transit?
Once discharged, overseas cargo sits in temporary storage under customs supervision. There are two ways to get it onto the road to the Czech Republic. In practice it works like this:
- Check the customs status. If you are buying from a Dutch supplier who imported and cleared the goods, they are in free circulation and an invoice plus CMR will do. If you are the importer, the consignment is uncleared.
- Clearance in the Netherlands. The goods are released into free circulation at the port and then travel as Union goods. Businesses that ship them straight on to another EU country can use customs procedure 42: no import VAT is paid in the Netherlands and VAT is accounted for in the Czech Republic instead. This usually requires a fiscal representative and the Czech VAT number of the consignee.
- T1 transit to the Czech Republic. The customs broker opens a transit declaration backed by a guarantee for duty and taxes, the driver carries the accompanying document with its MRN, and the goods must reach the designated Czech customs office within the set deadline to be cleared there.
- Unpack or deliver the whole container? On a chassis the container comes right to your door, but it has to go back empty to the port or a nominated depot, and the shipping line charges once the free days run out. For ordinary shipments it therefore usually pays to unpack at a port warehouse and forward the goods on a curtainsider.
Customs formalities are handled by a customs broker – either your own or one working with the port warehouse. We provide a suitably equipped truck and make sure collection follows smoothly on from release.
Flowers, plants and glasshouse vegetables
Cut flowers and pot plants travel in a refrigerated truck and are usually loaded early in the morning after the auctions, reaching the Czech Republic the next day. Plants intended for planting need a plant passport, issued by the sender. Glasshouse vegetables from Westland are loaded at packing stations much as elsewhere in Europe – temperature needs by crop are covered on our fruit and vegetables page.

Delicate equipment from the Eindhoven region
Instruments and machinery for electronics and healthcare do not cope well with vibration. For these we book trucks with air suspension and, on request, a tail lift for unloading without a dock. We recommend fitting crates with shock and tilt indicators so that any damage can be proven at the point of delivery.
The new Dutch lorry charge and the route through the Rhineland

Since 1 July 2026, vehicles over 3.5 t have paid a distance-based charge in the Netherlands, replacing the Eurovignette. The truck must carry an active on-board unit from an approved provider; the charge is included in our price. There is no weekend ban on ordinary lorries in the Netherlands. The route runs via Venlo into the Rhineland and on through Frankfurt or Kassel to the Czech Republic; Germany’s Sunday ban applies until 22:00.
Small consignments from distribution centres go by groupage, regular deliveries as part loads. The pick-up can be combined with goods from Belgium or Germany. All countries are listed under freight from EU countries, with an indicative price in the calculator.
