Freight from Poland to the Czech Republic

From Poland to the Czech Republic we carry furniture, household appliances, car parts, building materials, poultry, frozen fruit and apples. Wrocław is about 330 km from Prague and Warsaw around 680 km; a full truckload takes 1–2 days depending on where it is collected. We book curtainsiders, mega trailers or reefers with contracted hauliers, and the calculator gives an indicative price.

Poland’s industrial centres and what they produce

Polish industry is spread across the whole country. For deliveries to the Czech Republic, though, what counts most are the Silesian cities just over our border and the big centres on the A1, A2 and A4 motorways, from which a truck reaches us in one or two days.

Poland is one of Europe’s biggest producers of both furniture and poultry, so these are among our most frequent enquiries. Loading and securing furniture is explained on our furniture transport page, and chilled food on food transport.

Via Náchod, Královec or Ostrava?

Poland → Czech Republic
Poland → Czech Republic

Loads from Wrocław and Lower Silesia mostly travel via Kudowa and Náchod or via Lubawka and Královec, then towards Hradec Králové and onto the D11. Freight from Upper Silesia and the Kraków area crosses the border near Ostrava and continues on the D1 via Olomouc and Brno. For western Poland a detour through Germany and Dresden is sometimes quicker. We choose the route by the collection and delivery points, not by the straight line on the map.

e-TOLL and motorways with their own charges

Poland’s e-TOLL system applies to vehicles over 3.5 t on tolled sections of motorways, expressways and selected national roads; the haulier needs an on-board unit or the mobile app. Several motorway stretches are run by private concessionaires that collect their own tolls. The haulier pays all of these, and they are included in our price.

Bank holidays and the summer break: when HGVs over 12 t must stop

Unlike Germany, Poland has no general Sunday ban. Restrictions apply to vehicles over 12 t, in three situations:

  1. Public holidays – from 08:00 to 22:00, and for most holidays also from 18:00 to 22:00 the evening before.
  2. Summer holidays – roughly from late June to late August, on Fridays 18:00–22:00, Saturdays 08:00–14:00 and Sundays 08:00–22:00.
  3. Exemptions – including perishable and chilled goods, live animals and combined transport.

Polish holidays such as 3 May and 11 November do not coincide with Czech ones, so we allow for them separately.

Single pallets and paperwork

Freight from Poland to the Czech Republic

For 1–6 pallets we use groupage, which is slower than a dedicated truck. For 7–18 pallets we opt for a part load, and from about 18 pallets a full 33-pallet trailer. Poland is in the EU, so there is no customs duty – an invoice and a CMR consignment note are enough.

For a ballpark figure, try the freight calculator. Neighbouring countries: freight from Germany and freight from Slovakia; other states are on the EU countries overview.

FAQ

How long does a lorry take from Warsaw to Prague?
The route is around 680 km, so a full load needs 1–2 days. From Wrocław (about 330 km) goods usually reach Prague the same or the next day.
Is there a Sunday lorry ban in Poland?
Not all year. HGVs over 12 t are restricted only on public holidays and during the summer break, when Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and Sundays are also covered.
What vehicle suits furniture from Poland?
Usually a mega trailer or a high-cube curtainsider, since furniture takes up a lot of space and weighs little.
Do I have to pay the Polish e-TOLL?
No. The haulier pays the toll and any concession motorway charges, and they are included in our price.
Do you move chilled poultry from Poland?
Yes, in a reefer set to the temperature stated in the order and on the CMR. Chilled cargo is also exempt from the Polish driving bans.
